The Kitchen Lady - September 2009

November 2008 I was in Tuscany Italy and was in awe of the Craftsmanship...The quality was exemplary...

They are a culture that Representation is extremely Important in everything they do...Beautiful country and so much warmth in the people.Part of there culture is living in the Kitchen with quality food and with good conversation talking about politics..

They close down their retail stores between 1:00 and 3:00 P.M for a Siesta...then go back to work until 7:00p.m.

Go home to shower and then for dinner or have dinner at home .Their mealtimes are there way of showing they care about their family and friends..It was for me very Special and refreshing..I felt the strength of their commitment for family and food.

On the way home which is an eight hour trip and plenty of time to think..I was so inspired by this culture that I designed a kitchen for a client Italian Style ...I have been to Italy twice and plan on going back again next year to visit some friends.

  1. Italia e bellissima! Being first generation here in the States I agree with you 100%. The Culture is extremely warm and family is the center of their lives. They take great pride in all their hard work, and everything they own is of top-notch, yet they live peacefully...and are extremely laid back. Their homes are exquisite, and they're kitchens are beautiful yet homey. I remember the last time I visited Italy, my Zia made homemade pasta... She made so much pasta that she had to turn the pasta in the sauce on a wooden surface that laid on two empty buckets. And who can forget the sweet fresh Cactus pears and Figs that we picked from the backyard. I can't wait to revisit...I suggest you visit Sicily, and I am not being Bias...lol

  5. Hi Judy - On Saturday I went to the John W. Engeman Theater in Northport Village to see the comedy "Run For Your Wife". The show was hilarious. I saw your advertisement in the Theater brochure. Mmmmm.... Where is your website address on your advertisement???
Have a good day! Regards, John Rauh

  12. Dear Judith,
Paulette Le Pore Motzko here from Facebook & CookingUpAStorminCA.ning.com.

You have me wanting to go visit Italy and see the friends I already know there and see the countryside, Sistine Chapel, the Officina Ceramica showroom and meet Fabio Bongiani-my friend who owns a cooking school in Rome and also my friend Romeo at Officina Ceramica.

I want to get the Rosetta Stone program so I can learn the language before I go, at least conversational style.

How I would love to hire you to do my place! I am in the process of re-doing my dad's kitchen and bath and looking at options.

I briefly looked at your gallery, but you and I could work together. I am the Southern CA Sales Representative for Officina Ceramica at:

    http://www.officinaceramica.com

Wait until you see the hand made, hand painted ceramic tiles and dishes and bath fixtures! You will be as awestruck as I was.

I put your number in my phone and I would love to talk some time.

    Paulette Le Pore Motzko
